Wearing: Zara Jacket (similar here and here) | Reformation Tee
This is what my typical outfit looks like: a white t-shirt, black jeans, and black booties. Because my style is fairly simple (and sometimes boring), I try to incorporate at least one piece into every outfit that adds a unique twist. The oversized (faux) leather jacket in this outfit gives it the effortless cool look I love. I’ve been on the hunt for an oversized leather jacket for quite awhile, so when I saw this one at Zara, I had to get it.
In general, I try to limit my purchases from fast fashion companies like Zara. These companies’ business practices often conflict with my support of sustainability and social responsibility. However, when I see a staple piece I know I will get a lot of use out of, I don’t hesitate to purchase. I think it is important to understand that not everyone can buy ethical all of the time (whether that’s due to price, limited assortment/availability, etc.). I think a responsible consumer is one that is aware of his/her consumption habits and makes an effort to support sustainable businesses. Be a responsible consumer, but also be realistic. If you like it and you know you’ll get a lot of use out if, then buy it!
